Stephen was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina and has always enjoyed the mountains and beaches of his home state. After attending the College of Charleston and University of South Carolina School of Law, he began his legal career in 2007 representing employers and insurers in Raleigh. Representing clients such as Family Dollar, Chick-Fil-A, Duke University, and Dick’s Sporting Goods in Superior Court and before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, Stephen learned how these organizations look at personal injury cases and what they prioritize.
Managing a defense practice covering Winston-Salem to Wilmington, Stephen handled many Superior Court jury trials and hearings before the Industrial Commission and appeals to the North Carolina Court of Appeals and North Carolina Supreme Court. In 2023 Stephen decided to utilize his years of litigation experience and trial work to the benefit of injured workers and disabled individuals in North Carolina. Stephen’s primary practice is representing claimants before the Industrial Commission and Social Security Administration and litigating personal injuries caused by the negligence of another, including motor vehicle accidents and other life-changing catastrophic injuries. Stephen enjoys the excitement and commitment of conducting jury trials and has handled hundreds of hearings, motions, depositions and mediations over the years.
When he is not advocating for his clients, he enjoys hiking, golfing, fishing, music and spending time with his family and dog. His favorite places to visit and spend time outside WNC are Corolla, Bogue Banks, Lake Marion, and Charleston.
